A 59-year-old unemployed man has been arrested in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, on suspicion of murdering his 90-year-old mother inside their home on Sunday night.

According to police, Motoo Kubo is alleged to have used a kitchen knife to stab his mother, Iyoko Kubo, in the chest at their shared residence. Shockingly, after the alleged attack, Kubo himself placed the call to emergency services to report the incident.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they made a grim discovery: Iyoko Kubo was found lying on a futon with the kitchen knife still embedded in her chest.

During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the allegations, telling police he was \"agitated\" or \"beside himself\" at the time.
