Shocking Trial: Woman Denies Severing Boyfriend's Nipple and Finger in Osaka Court

September 9, 2025

A disturbing case of alleged intimate partner violence has gripped Japan, as a 23-year-old unemployed woman stood trial at the Osaka District Court, denying charges of grievous bodily harm.

Gruesome Allegations in Court

According to the prosecution's opening statement, the defendant, Sato Saki, met her younger boyfriend on social media in 2021 when he was still a high school student. Their relationship allegedly took a dark turn, with the prosecution claiming Sato began inflicting violence, stating she "liked to see him endure the pain."

A Pattern of Control and Violence

The situation escalated when the couple began living together in the summer of last year. The prosecution outlined a harrowing sequence of events: in September, Sato reportedly used scissors to sever the victim's nipple, citing a belief that it would regenerate. The following month, she allegedly used an axe to cut off his left ring finger as a form of "apology" for a separate dispute. Shockingly, Sato is said to have sent messages and photos of the severed nipple to an acquaintance and preserved the finger in an alcohol bottle inside her freezer.

A Firm Denial

Facing these severe charges, Sato entered a plea of "not guilty," flatly denying the accusations with the statement, "I did not do it." The trial continues as the court examines the evidence in this brutal case.
