Retail gasoline prices in Japan have fallen for the first time in four weeks, offering slight relief to consumers amid fluctuating global oil markets.
Modest Decline Reported
According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the national average price for regular gasoline as of September 29 was ¥175.20 per liter, down ¥0.10 from the previous week. The drop is attributed to a recent decline in crude oil prices.
Regional Variations
Prices rose in 12 prefectures but fell in 23 others, while 12 regions saw no change. Aichi recorded the lowest price at ¥169.40, while Kagoshima had the highest at ¥185.20.
Economic Context
Despite the slight dip, prices remain sensitive to international oil market trends and exchange rates. Analysts suggest that further volatility is likely in the coming months, influenced by global demand and geopolitical factors.
