A 45-year-old former manager of a School IE tutoring center in Nakano Ward, Tokyo, has been arrested on suspicion of committing non-consensual indecent acts against a 15-year-old female student under his guidance.
Details of the Allegations
The arrest, which occurred on the 14th, was announced by the Metropolitan Police Department on the 16th. The suspect is alleged to have inappropriately touched the middle school student over her clothes on multiple occasions in March and May within the premises of the tutoring facility.
A Mixed Confession
During questioning, the unemployed man reportedly stated, "When my hand accidentally touched her chest and she didn't say anything, I escalated my behavior. I did it about ten times in total." However, he partially denied the allegations, specifically claiming he did not touch her under her clothes.
Discovery and Corporate Response
The case came to light in June when a counselor, whom the girl had confided in, notified the police. The company operating the塾 (juku - cram school), Yaruiki Switch Group headquartered in Chuo Ward, fired the man on the 12th. On the 16th, they issued a statement offering their "deepest apologies to the student and her family."
