Suzuki's First All-Electric SUV 'e-Vitara' Arrives in January with Surprising Price Tag

September 16, 2025

Suzuki has officially announced that its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the new e-Vitara compact SUV, will go on sale in Japan on January 16, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the automaker.

Compact Size, Spacious Interior

The e-Vitara is built on a newly developed BEV-dedicated platform. Despite its compact dimensions (4,275mm long, 1,800mm wide, 1,640mm high) and a wheelbase of 2,700mm, Suzuki promises a spacious interior with ample room for rear-seat passengers.

High-Tech & Adventure Design

The exterior pursues a theme of "Hi-Tech & Adventure," blending advanced EV aesthetics with SUV robustness. It features a bold silhouette with polygonal shapes, a pronounced front mask, large-diameter tires, and signature three-point lamps at the front and rear. The interior combines black and brown tones for a premium feel, integrated with a high-tech floating console and a seamless integrated display system with a 10.25-inch meter and a 10.1-inch center screen.

Powerful and Capable Performance

Power comes from an integrated "eAxle" unit for efficiency. The model offers three drive modes (NORMAL, ECO, SPORT) and an "Easy Drive Pedal" for one-pedal operation. It utilizes a long-life LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery. A key highlight is the electric 4WD system, "ALLGRIP-e," which uses two independent eAxles for superior traction on rough terrain, featuring an Auto mode and a Trail mode with LSD functionality for slippery surfaces.

Pricing and Range

Three grades will be available. The entry-level X・2WD with a 49kWh battery offers a WLTC range of 433km and starts at ¥3,993,000. The mid-tier Z・2WD and top Z・4WD models feature a 61kWh battery, offering ranges of 520km and 472km, priced at ¥4,488,000 and ¥4,928,000 respectively. All models are eligible for a ¥870,000 clean energy vehicle subsidy, effectively reducing the starting price to approximately ¥3.12 million.
